ORIGINAL SOURCE AUSTRALIAN BOARDRIDERS BATTLE
THE HOEY MOEY COFFS HARBOUR BOARDRIDERS WIN WILD CARD ENTRY!
2014 Original Source Australian Boardriders Battle is the country’s biggest grassroots event series with 8 state rounds with $120,000 in prize money involving more than 100 of the best clubs in the nation.
The finalists have been whittled down to the best 20 clubs for the 2015 National Finals held in Cronulla NSW on the Australia Day Long weekend.
Each team will consist of 1 junior (female or male), 4 opens (1 female, 3 males) and 1 over 35 (male or female). The format will see teams battle it out in a women’s division, five-person team division and a skins competition.
The Hoey Moey’s Coffs Harbour Boardriders Club were required to apply for the one of the three wildcard entries after having narrowly missing out on automatic entry into the finals after the North Coast rounds were held. These two National wildcard boardrider club positions are determined by a Surfing Australia selection panel.
Lee Winkler (Club President) & Gigs Peplow (Representative Secretary) had to outline details of the clubs’ results in any Regional, State or National for 2014 and also provide details of the clubs’ competing surfers contest results for 2014 in a thorough application.
“We were given the thumbs up by Surfing Australia on Wednesday afternoon and we couldn’t be more stoked”, the Club’s media Manager Lauryn Nicholls said. “Our Club has had a huge two years and we have seen some amazing results both at a competitive level and community grass roots level”. “This result gives us a clear indication that all the hard work is paying off and that our Club and the Coffs Coast is firmly on the Australian surfing map.
The club will take a team up of 8 surfers (including reserves), Manager, Captain, families, grommies and club supporters.
CHBC Team for the final is: Samahara Bye, Braydon Templeton, Madison Williams, Jayke Sharp, Shaun Cansdell, Lee Winkler, Angela Kieghran and Billy Kean. Photo is missing – Brayden Templeton and Billy Kean.
