Sunday Session ft. PSMURF, DJ COST & Rates

P.Smurf (Lorenz Prichard) is a celebrated hip-hop MC and co-founder/manager of Big Village. Having established strong repute through his collaborative projects, Daily Meds, Reverse Polarities and Sketch the Rhyme, P.Smurf is currently focused on his solo act and forthcoming debut album ‘Playing The Blues’, due out April 2018. His charismatic style of socially and politically charged lyrics, delivered with ferocity and percussive flows, have earned him a loyal fanbase. In the last 5 years he has released two solo mixtapes, an EP and a 7” vinyl while touring extensively across Australia as both a solo artist and with his respective groups. As a founding member of Daily Meds, P.Smurf was integral to their successful release, Happy Daze. The album was shortlisted in the top 9 of the 2012 Australian Music Prize and was FBI’s Sunsets “Album of the Week”. The single “Insane” was added to Triple J high rotation and the group won Triple J Unearthed’s “Come Together” Festival in 2011.

DJ Cost

Turntablist from the Blue Mountains (as per his facebook page)

Hailing from Sydney’s south west suburbs, MC Rates is by no means a stranger to the Australian hip-hop scene. Having started playing music as a guitarist in bands throughout Sydney, he then made the transition to writing rhymes at age 17, influenced by the likes of Scarface, Eminem, Big Pun and Wu tang Clan, as well as drawing inspiration from life experiences and his local surroundings.
