DESCRIPTION:Select Music & Offbeat Presents \nHOLY HOLY\n+ Special Guests: Clews \nThe Hoey Moey Backroom\nFriday 14th February\nDoors 9pm \nPurchase your tickets here now! \n  \nHoly Holy manifested something when they gave themselves that reverent name back in 2011. \nSince then\, Oscar Dawson and Tim Carroll have created their own sound: a combination of indie pop\, art rock and bittersweet lyrics that just hit different. \n‘all I want\nis to hold a little piece\nof history between my teeth’\n(History\, 2011) \nLiam Gallagher heard their devastating truth when he went to a show in 2019\, calling them his favourite new band. The Mad Mancunian tweeted the lyrics to Sentimental and Monday to his 3 million followers. \n‘Darkness is nothing but a lack of light as you were LG x’  \nEarlier\, the production whiz/multi-instrumentalist Dawson met singer/fellow polymath Carroll as a volunteer teachers living out of backpacks in Southeast Asia. Later\, they looked each other up in Europe where Carroll was trying to get a break in Sweden and Dawson was riding the buzz of his then-band Dukes of Windsor. \nThis party of two soon began with debut album When The Storms Would Come in 2014 – all Knopfler and Young guitars with Oberst and Springsteen sighs through a unique Stockholm (Carroll) meets Melbourne (Dawson) lens. \nPaint (2017) had a robust confidence to it (That Message\, Shadow) and contained a proper hit True Lovers (50 million + streams across DSPs).\nMy Own Pool of Light (2019) showed off ecstatic\, Gorillaz-influenced pop (Faces)\, devastating paeans to mortality (Teach Me About Dying) and more of those lyrics that pull you down while boosting you up; \n‘I woke up in a room on fire\nflames were licking at the foot of my bed\nsmoke and light dancing on my ceiling\nclosed my eyes and then I slept.’\n(Maybe You Know) \nHoly Holy extended their range on Hello My Beautiful World (2021)\, grabbing hotly tipped collaborators and sticking the landing with CLEWS (The Aftergone) and searing rapper Queen P (Port Rd). \nTheir latest work with Sydney-based rapper and producer Kwame on Messed Up shows a band that is happy to wrong-foot listeners\, much like their forebears\, Radiohead. Messed Up sounds like Rufus re-doing Vangelis’ original Bladerunner soundtrack in drum-and-bass style. Chaos. \nOff the back of the 19 bangers added to the national youth broadcaster\, devoted fans have helped Holy Holy achieve one Double Platinum and four Gold singles. Remember\, fan comes from “fanatic”; Holy Holy fans feel like they’re in church when they see them live. \nAll of this bodes well for their fifth album which will feature Messed Up as well as collaborations with an iconic Australian dance music duo and an edgy\, hyped Swedish singer. \nIntrigued? They were quickly recognised for their ability to fuse elements of dance music with an energy more akin to rock’n’roll. After signing with Modular Recordings\, the band released two EPs and an album Beams (2005). \nIn 2008 The Presets released the chart-topping Apocalypso\, selling in excess of Triple Platinum sales in Australia and featuring four hit singles\, including the classic ‘My People’. Setting new standards for dance music in Australia\, The Presets went on to win 5 ARIA awards (and 2 ARIA Artisan Awards) including Album of the Year\, as well as the J Award and FBI SMAC Award for Album of The Year. Kim and Julian also shared the coveted Songwriter of The Year Award at the 2009 APRA Awards. Pacifica was released in 2012\, featuring Rolling Stone Magazine’s Song Of The Year\, ‘Ghosts’. Pacifica was also nominated for an ARIA\, shortlisted for the AMP Award\, the J Award\, and was Album of the Year in the Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph\, and Electronic Album of the Year in the Sydney Morning Herald. \nThe Presets have been recognised worldwide for their dynamic live performances\, playing hundreds of shows domestically and internationally\, including key slots at renowned international music festivals such as Glastonbury\, Coachella\, SXSW\, Exit\, Melt and Splendour In The Grass. \nThe Presets returned in 2018 with their long-awaited fourth album\, HI VIZ\, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes album charted within hours of its release and was nominated for two ARIA Awards as well as the prestigious Australian Music Prize. The record spawned Triple J Hottest 100 favourites “Do What You Want” and “Martini”\, with the latter nominated for Best Song at the FBi SMAC Awards in 2019. \nThe band also released their expansive RAKA EP – a collaborative record with Golden Features\, led by the euphoric single ‘Paradise’ in 2019. The track became triple j’s most-played song shortly after its release and charted in the Hottest 100 of 2019. \nThe Presets kicked of 2022 with the club-primed single “You Belong” which featured in the soundtrack the band created for Sydney’s iconic midnight fireworks. The single became the most-played song on Triple J for the month of its release. \nIn 2023 to celebrate 20 years of making beats together\, The Presets announced 20 nights of DJ sets around Australia\, playing small clubs and bars (July/Aug/Sep)\, reconnecting with the electric spirit that got them making music in the first place. \nIn addition to their work together Julian has guested with artists including Flight Facilities and Steve Angello as well as scoring pieces for the Sydney Dance Company. Kim is a prominent DJ\, produced albums for artists like DMA’s\, Northeast Party House and co-owns the buzzing EDM indie label Here To Hell.

Each of his six subsequent albums – Pale Rider (2003)\, Who Am I (2005)\, Brothers Grimm (2008)\, Life Of Riley (2010)\, Seven Mirrors (2016)\, and Arabella Street (2018) – brought increasing levels of complexity and refinement\, ascending Drapht to the absolute upper echelon of Australia’s stacked card of hip-hop heavyweights.
