DESCRIPTION:“Rarely do you find anyone who builds from the dust and grit of real life\, songs of such power and poignancy – Dan Hannaford does\, a true talent\, make no mistake” – Samuel J Fell (Music Journalist / Writer)  \n “A rock-solid slab of dusty country and ragged-edged blues\, as honest as the day is long\, twice as real and raw” – Sydney Morning Herald 2015 \n“Hannaford channels Bob Dylan and The Felice Brothers with his outlaw blues mojo on overdrive” – Rhythms Magazine 2015 \n  \nDan Hannaford tells the truth\, his songs captivate with quirkily crafted lyrics and his country-tinged\, blues–laced\, rock ‘n roll swagger is the likes of which are few and far between on our current music scene. \nMay 2015 saw Dan Hannaford release his debut studio album “I Cried Bullets” recorded in Los Angeles & produced by renowned drummer David Raven. The record is tinged with a who’s who of seasoned session players\, some who have played or recorded with the likes of Keith Richards\, Norah Jones\, Carol King\, Steve Earle\, Willie Nelson\, Ray Charles\, and Stevie Wonder to name but a few. \nDan kicked off 2015 playing on New Year’s Day at the Byron Bay Falls Festival as the winner of the Play Mullum & Falls Festival song competition for his track from the album ‘Payday’. The lead single ‘Lay Down Your Guns’ had the accompanying film clip officially selected to premiere at Byron Bay’s 2015 International Film Festival. Dan was then chosen to open for Grammy award-winning blues artist Charlie Musselwhite on his February 2015 Australian tour.  \n Dan has previously opened Australian tour shows for the likes of America’s Donavon Frankenreiter and Charlie Parr and also Australian icons such as Tex Perkins\, Pete Murray\, Black Sorrows and Mental as Anything. Hannaford has also showcased his talent at Australia’s premier Byron Bay Blues Festival being named on the bill alongside John Fogerty\, Cold Chisel and Crosby Stills & Nash with his single ‘Deeper Water’ included on the Bluesfest 2012 compilation album. \nDan’s first independent release Rust and Dust (2012) was recorded at the Hannaford family fishing shack\, ‘Hannarock’\, in Red Rock on the NSW North Coast with blues/folk musician and producer\, Mike McCarthy. It featured as album of the week on ABC Radio and their collaboration single ‘I’ve Gone Fishing’ also received major airplay on ABC Radio’s fishing show\, ‘The Big Fish’. \nDan Hannaford’s musical career began when he played on a Channel [V] music showcase in 2009 where he was spotted by record industry legend Seymour Stein who requested a demo. This led to the recording of the ‘Bootleg’ EP/demo in 2010. \nSince then Dan Hannaford has been busy playing hundreds of stages all around Australia\, including the Australian Blues Festival\, Gympie Country Muster\, National Folk Festival and Tamworth Country Music Festival. In 2015 he toured Europe to perform at The Summertime Blues Festival in Austria. \nDan Hannaford will be followed by DJ Panda until late.

DESCRIPTION:Don Julio proudly presents\nTHE VINYL LOUNGE SESSIONS\nLIVE & FREE IN THE HOEY’S NEW FRONT BAR: \nDive into the musical groove with Emiliano Beltzer’s “Memo” and Katie Crane\, a dynamic musical duo from Bellingen. \nThis time\, the duo is joined by the talented multi-instrumentalist Georgie Chorley. \nMemo\, originally from Argentina\, is a beautifully melodious five-string bass player\, whose rhythm\, melody and improv elegantly compliments Katie’s warm electric guitar style and original vocal tunes. \nKatie is most recently known for her work in the band Wild Thyme but has an extensive career playing bluegrass and blues and as an educator. \nGeorgie is a regular at most jazz gigs in the area\, from The Spare Room in Sawtel to the Federal Hotel in Bellingen. She an accomplished singer and trumpet player\, as well as a songwriter on her own right. She is the co-founder of Tanuki and Hip Mama\, and a member of many acts in the area\, like Mastersonics and Zoobop to name a few. \nPlaying new original tunes and jazz standards\, Memo\, Katie and Georgie’s genuine musical connection will create a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.

They were quickly recognised for their ability to fuse elements of dance music with an energy more akin to rock’n’roll. After signing with Modular Recordings\, the band released two EPs and an album Beams (2005). \nIn 2008 The Presets released the chart-topping Apocalypso\, selling in excess of Triple Platinum sales in Australia and featuring four hit singles\, including the classic ‘My People’. Setting new standards for dance music in Australia\, The Presets went on to win 5 ARIA awards (and 2 ARIA Artisan Awards) including Album of the Year\, as well as the J Award and FBI SMAC Award for Album of The Year. Kim and Julian also shared the coveted Songwriter of The Year Award at the 2009 APRA Awards. Pacifica was released in 2012\, featuring Rolling Stone Magazine’s Song Of The Year\, ‘Ghosts’. Pacifica was also nominated for an ARIA\, shortlisted for the AMP Award\, the J Award\, and was Album of the Year in the Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph\, and Electronic Album of the Year in the Sydney Morning Herald. \nThe Presets have been recognised worldwide for their dynamic live performances\, playing hundreds of shows domestically and internationally\, including key slots at renowned international music festivals such as Glastonbury\, Coachella\, SXSW\, Exit\, Melt and Splendour In The Grass. \nThe Presets returned in 2018 with their long-awaited fourth album\, HI VIZ\, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes album charted within hours of its release and was nominated for two ARIA Awards as well as the prestigious Australian Music Prize. The record spawned Triple J Hottest 100 favourites “Do What You Want” and “Martini”\, with the latter nominated for Best Song at the FBi SMAC Awards in 2019. \nThe band also released their expansive RAKA EP – a collaborative record with Golden Features\, led by the euphoric single ‘Paradise’ in 2019. The track became triple j’s most-played song shortly after its release and charted in the Hottest 100 of 2019. \nThe Presets kicked of 2022 with the club-primed single “You Belong” which featured in the soundtrack the band created for Sydney’s iconic midnight fireworks. The single became the most-played song on Triple J for the month of its release. \nIn 2023 to celebrate 20 years of making beats together\, The Presets announced 20 nights of DJ sets around Australia\, playing small clubs and bars (July/Aug/Sep)\, reconnecting with the electric spirit that got them making music in the first place. \nIn addition to their work together Julian has guested with artists including Flight Facilities and Steve Angello as well as scoring pieces for the Sydney Dance Company. Kim is a prominent DJ\, produced albums for artists like DMA’s\, Northeast Party House and co-owns the buzzing EDM indie label Here To Hell.
