Pet Rhino is a four-piece alternative rock band based in Gold Coast, Australia. Pet Rhino is a mix of alternative/indie rock that displays elements of surf rock while possessing a youthful and authentic sound. Forming in August 2021, with members – Samuel Goff (Lead Guitar), Saxon Smith (Bass), and Kairo Smith (Lead Vocals + Rhythm Guitar) playing together since 2018.
They performed shows along the South-East Coast supporting local legends such as Ivey and Peach Fur throughout 2018-2020. With this band splitting due to personal reasons Saxon, Kairo, and Sam had a period of two years to write, rehearse, and plan for what was to come. In August 2021, Nick Taylor (Drums) was introduced to the band through a mutual friend, and Pet Rhino was formed. 2022 saw Pet Rhino release their debut single ‘The Feeling You Miss’ and the first single from their debut E.P. ‘Conversations’.
Pet Rhino released their debut E.P. ‘19th Ave’ in 2023 with 4 new songs including their most streamed song ‘Beach Bums’. In 2024, Pet Rhino has an Australia tour locked in for their next single release ‘Growing Pains’ with another two singles scheduled for release by the end of the year. Pet Rhino draws inspiration from Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Lord Huron, Spacey Jane, and Royal Blood.
