There are backpackers with us all year around who work on varies farms and pick blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, bananas, cucumbers tomatoes, zucchinis and other fruits. Farmers employ backpackers to plant, pick and pack the fruits. Whenever positions become available the farmers contact us about current openings which we then pass all job availability on to our guests who are staying at the Hoey Moey Backpackers. Quite often the farmers only give us a couple of days notice when they need more people. We do not reserve any jobs. We do not have any influence in any part of the hiring process. There could be a waiting period before the farmers processed new application forms and employ more people. When farmers call us and ask for more workers we pass all jobs on to anybody who is staying with us at the time.
Please Note: The Hoey Moey Backpackers does not operate or employ people to work at any farm. If you are employed in a Fruit Picking Job while staying at the Hoey Moey Backpackers you will be employed directly by the Farmers/Fruit Picking Company and you will get paid by the Farmer/Fruit Picking Company, not by us. The Hoey Moey does not receive any form of payment, commission or bonus from any Farm or Employer of Fruit Pickers. We do not take any responsibility in case of any disputes that arise throughout your employment with the farms.
We have also backpackers staying with us who work in bars, restaurants, clubs, cafe’s, in retail or on building sites. For people with the right skills there is plenty of work available in Coffs Harbour.
We offer discounted weekly rates in 4-6 share dorm or double rooms all with ensuite bathroom, TV, fridge and free WiFi. We have a fully equipped kitchen and great common areas. After work you can chill out in our private garden with direct beach access. Take out free fishing rods and catch yourself a dinner that you can then prepare on our free BBQ. If you have still some energy left you can take out our free boogie boards and play in the waves at Park Beach. We do regularly BBQ nights, Trivia Nights, Backpacker parties and offer discounted meals & drinks in our bistro and bar to all our guests.
